Carroll County Chapter of the American Wine Society
Revised Bylaws
May 30, 1995
On March 19, 1995 a business meeting was held to review the policies and ideas used in this particular chapter of the American Wine Society. The following is the result of that meeting.
National AWS Membership
Membership in the National and this local chapter is required after 3 visits (during the year).
We will continue to use the AWS rating form with a separate wine list.
The current chairperson of the local chapter will be the contact to the National chapter.
Attendance
Membership in this chapter is of a household nature - spouses are also members.
Unattached members may bring a guest.
Members may bring guests to the tasting after checking with the chairperson or house host as to the number of members attending that particular tasting.
The number of attendees at a tasting will number from 30 -40, but may decrease or increase in deference to the house host.
Tastings Guidelines
The primary goal for each tasting is wine education within a social environment.
Tastings will begin promptly at 2:00.
Wine education will be presented at the beginning of the tasting, lasting approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
The number of wines tasted will be limited to six; a warm up is at the discretion of the wine host.
The food served during the tasting will be basic palette cleansing fare with the more creative dishes served after the lecture.
Costs & Food
The maximum cost of each tasting per person will be $12.00, with a food allowance of $2.00. If this figure will be higher for a special tasting (such as the Sparkling), it will be noted in the newsletter.
The House Host may also be the Food Host.
The House Host will provide the basic wine tasting food (bread, cheese) with the Food Host and/or helpful members providing other fare.
House Host/Food Host will keep all receipts to be given to the treasurer for reimbursement.
We will attempt to keep the food served in accordance with the wine theme.
Please pay the treasurer promptly!
